Apple Compote
Servings: 1 (1 medium jar) · Prep: 10 min · Cook: 20 min
Ingredients
- 7–8 apples
- 2–3 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, adjust to taste (optional)
- 1–2 teaspoons cinnamon powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger or ginger powder (optional)
Method
- Ideally use sweet organic apples; no need to peel. Wash and rub under running water. Quarter, remove the cores and seeds, and chop into smaller cubes.
- Set a pot or saucepan over medium-high heat. Add apples, water, and any optional flavorings. Mix and bring to a light boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the apples have softened.
- Turn off the heat and let sit covered while cooling. Blend if a smoother texture is desired.
